Annuar: PAS obsessed with slogans, billboards
KOTA BARU: Umno has accused the Kelantan Government of being only obsess with slogans with little or nothing concrete on uplifting the livelihood of the people.
"Look at when the state Budget was tabled. Half of the hall was empty. It means that not only are the people bored with the state of affairs in Kelantan, even civil servants are frustrated with what is going on," said state Umno chief Datuk Seri Annuar Musa.
He added that amidst the billboards with slogans all over the state, the question remained whether there has been any improvement in Kelantan.
This is the challenge to Umno – to inform the people of what has actually been transpiring in Kelantan since the last elections in 2004, he said when opening a convention for Umno polls agents yesterday.
Annuar claimed that PAS, which rules Kelantan by a razor-thin majority of 23 seats in the 45-seat state assembly, was starting to feel threatened and insecure over its dwindling support.
He added this has caused it to react angrily to Umno assemblymen Mohd Adhan Kechik (BN – Bukit Bunga) and Datuk Nozula Mat Diah (BN – Paloh).
The two have been suspended for six months from attending assembly meetings after the House ruled they had said disparaging remarks in the Press against Speaker Datuk Wan Abdul Rahim Wan Abdullah.
Nozula had also caused a stir in the assembly when he challenged Mohd Zaki Ibrahim (PAS – Kelaboran) to a fight.
Claiming the two assemblymen were provoked, Annuar said PAS could not govern the state effectively with its limited resources and investment flows and had to falsely portray everything as rosy.
